About the Kogusoku Aikido Association (KAA)

The Kogusoku Aiki-Jitsu Association was founded in 1993 by the late Sensei George Oughton. Sensei Oughton started his Aikido Career in the 1950's under Kenshiro Abbe Sensei, and had travelled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East and Russia, teaching and studying under various Masters before his death in June 2002.

The Kogusoku Aiki-Jitsu Association was re-named the Kogusoku Aikido Association in April 2007 by Sensei Geoff Aisbitt. Sensei Aisbittt has been involved with Martial arts and Self Defence since the mid 1970's, teaching and training in various locations around the world.

What is aikido?

Aikido is a powerful martial art that can only be used for self-defence. Angles and balance are used to over-power larger or stronger opponents. Since it does not rely on strength to be effective, it is suitable for men and women of differing ages and abilities.

Students are however encouraged to explore the diversity of styles offered by other Sensei and Associations, maintaining an open mind in pursuance of the knowledge of Aiki.
